Civic and Political Participation of Youth and Women
Despite some progress, women and youth remain underrepresented in Liberia’s political and decision-making spaces. FYWE is committed to changing this narrative.
Through leadership training, civic education, and mentorship programs, we equip young people and women with the skills and confidence to participate actively in politics and governance.
- Leadership and political education workshops
Establishing youth councils and women’s forums
Advocacy for inclusive policies and representation
Partnerships with political parties and civil society organizations
Our Goal:
To see more youth and women serving as influential leaders and policy makers in Liberia’s future.

Prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
Gender-based violence remains one of the most urgent issues affecting women and girls in Liberia. FYWE stands firm in the fight against GBV and harmful traditional practices such as early marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM).
We work to change mindsets, support survivors, and create safer communities through awareness campaigns, legal aid, and community engagement.
Key Activities Include:
GBV prevention campaigns in schools and communities
Legal and psychosocial support for survivors
Training local leaders and youth advocates on women’s rights
Promoting gender equality through dialogue and education
Our Goal:
To eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls and promote a culture of equality, dignity, and respect

Climate Change and Environmental Action
Climate change poses a serious threat to Liberia’s economy and food security — and women and youth are among the most affected.
FYWE promotes climate-smart agriculture, supports women farmers, and empowers young people to lead environmental protection efforts. We believe that a sustainable future depends on inclusive climate action.
Training women farmers on sustainable agriculture
Supporting youth-led climate initiatives and advocacy
Promoting renewable energy and reforestation projects
Advocating for women’s inclusion in national climate policies
Our Goal:
To build climate-resilient communities where women and youth lead in protecting the environment.

Humanitarian Preparedness and Response
During crises — whether natural disasters, conflicts, or health emergencies — women and youth are often the most vulnerable. FYWE ensures that their needs are prioritized in humanitarian response and recovery efforts.
Key Activities Include:
Community disaster-preparedness training
Supporting local early-warning systems
Partnerships with emergency and relief agencies
Promoting gender-sensitive and youth-inclusive disaster planning
Our Goal:
To strengthen community resilience and ensure inclusive crisis management that leaves no one behind.

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)
Access to clean water and proper sanitation is essential for health, education, and dignity. Yet, in many parts of Liberia, women and girls still walk long distances to collect water — limiting their opportunities and exposing them to risks.
FYWE works to improve water infrastructure, promote hygiene awareness, and ensure that women and youth play a central role in managing community water systems.
Key Activities Include:
uilding and rehabilitating wells and boreholes
Hygiene and sanitation education campaigns
Promoting menstrual hygiene management in schools
Community water-management training for women and youth
Our Goal:
To ensure that every community has access to safe water, proper sanitation, and the knowledge to maintain healthy practices.
