Liberia’s Women’s Day Celebration: Bridging the Gap to a Sustainable Future
On March 25, 2025, Golden Touch Liberia hosted an unforgettable Women’s Day event, uniting voices, ideas, and ambitions under the theme: “Bridging the Gap of Social Dependency to Sustainable Development.” The atmosphere was charged with purpose, as women from all walks of life gathered to champion progress, empowerment, and economic independence.
Empowering Women for a Thriving Society
A resounding message echoed throughout the event—no society can truly thrive without the contributions of women. Breaking barriers requires equipping women with essential resources, especially financial support and access to opportunities that enable them to excel and drive meaningful change.
One of the most promising highlights was the Ministry of Commerce’s commitment to partnering with more women. This pledge reaffirmed the power of collaboration in building a prosperous and inclusive nation, where every woman has the opportunity to succeed.
Among the distinguished attendees was Ms. Mawatta A.C. Sheriff, Executive Director of the Foundation for Youth and Women Empowerment, who represented the foundation and contributed valuable insights to the discussions on sustainable development and women’s empowerment.
Women as Leaders of Change
Women are not just participants in development; they are leaders of transformation. To shape a better future, we must:
- Believe in our dreams and pursue them without fear.
- Invest in education to expand our knowledge and skills.
- Foster strong partnerships that uplift and support one another.
- Close social and economic gaps through collective action.
With unity and determination, we can reshape our nation and ensure that every woman—regardless of background—has a seat at the decision-making table.
Prioritizing Market Women & Local Farmers
As we work toward sustainable development, we must recognize and support the backbone of our economy—our market women and local farmers. Their contributions to Liberia’s agricultural sector are invaluable, and their voices must be included in discussions that shape policies affecting their livelihoods. Investing in them means investing in the future of our nation.
The Time for Action is Now
Change doesn’t wait. We cannot afford to delay progress. Women must unite with sincerity, commitment, and resilience to ensure that no one is left behind. Cultural norms and traditions should uplift, not oppress.
A heartfelt thank you to Golden Touch Liberia for organizing such a powerful and inspiring event. To the incredible panelists and participants—bravo! This celebration was not just an event; it was a call to action. Now, let’s move forward together and create the change we wish to see.
The future is ours—let’s build it boldly!
