Farming and Forests Can Coexist: Let’s Protect Liberia’s Forests – Together!

Liberia’s forests are disappearing fast but FYWE is proving that farming and forest protection can go hand in hand. Through training and community-led conservation, FYWE is helping farmers, youth, and women adopt sustainable practices that restore land and secure livelihoods.
Liberia is home to about 8.8 million hectares of forest, representing roughly 43% of West Africa’s remaining Upper Guinean Forest. However, according to Global Forest Watch, the country lost approximately 160,000 hectares of natural forest in recent years — largely due to slash-and-burn agriculture and illegal logging.
